Starts with defective wipers and gets worse from there

Bought a 2016 Miramar from Camping World in Lake City FL. Wipers quit in a thunderstorm while on an expressway doing 65. Still not fixed after three trips to factory and dealer. Contacted Camping World again was told that they would make a note in our file as if that would correct the problem. Contacted Thou and was told a rep would contact us, it’s been 6 weeks and still no contact. Water heater quit, furnace quit, defroster motor quit, slide out leaked, passenger side window leaks. Ice maker in fridge quit, drivers seat coming apart at the seams, bathroom faucet had to be replaced. Needless to say don’t buy a Thou and don’t shop at Camping World. Neither one stands by their product.

Read these reports and first thought was "is this just sour grapes". Went to look at Thor Freedom Traveler A30 & A27 at Camping world.

With reports like this committed to memory I went through every cabinet, storage space & drawer and checked mechanicals as best as I could. Now before you ask, I have owned 7 RV's including a truck camper, 2 tongue pulls, 3 5ers, and a Class A over 40 years. Never in my life have I seen worse quality control from a manufacturer. Sawdust & debris everywhere.

Audio installations not complete, wires hanging loose, ill fitting drawers, outside window moldings loose, putty & sealer smeared on sinks & drains, hydraulic oil spilled at the leveler pump..... AND the most egregious thing I found - The dump valves situated where one cannot run the sewer hose through the access hole in the bottom of the bay, even with a 45 or 90 elbow. My wife was excited about the A30 floor plan, but after seeing the quality of workmanship on both coaches, she said she'd rather keep our 10 year old "A" than buy one of these.

There is absolutely no way I'd spend money on a coach whose manufacturer had no attention to detail or quality control and apparently has no inspection process in place to ensure a product is presentable for sale before these go out the door to the dealer. The customer who is considering one of these would be advised to do a THOROUGH inspection before signing on the dotted line.

Had a great experience all the way around

We bought a 2016 Thor Hurricane from Reines RV. Had a couple of problems after picking it up. Ladder was missing screws, radio stopped working, awning lights were faulty. Dealer fixed/replaced all with no issues and at no cost. Later reported out of Warrenty issues to Thor to find replacement parts, Thor recommended a dealer to repair items and sent some of the items to us for free. I feel a lot of the negative reviews come from people who have no idea what they are doing when they purchase an RV. Every dealer offers a walk through for you to test every system, the onus is on you to follow through! Very happy with my coach and Thor. I’d buy another in a heartbeat, sadly Reines is no more, or I’d drive all the way back to buy from them.

We have bought other RVs . We traded a class a in on a smaller one .So we could go more, and it is easier to drive.

their warranty was great ,that"s why we bought it. But don't have any problems with it .

THOR Do Not Stand By Their Warranties Nor Keep Their Word!!,

Traded in my 2012 THOR in Feb 2017 for a brand new 2017 THOR ACE at the Seattle RV show through Sunset RV and there my nightmare began. I was told after signing papers that I could take delivery of my coach the following week from the dealership but this date was continually postponed by them due to warranty issues. After 3 months of this I got permission to have the RV transferred to another service center as the dealership had a staff walkout and closed their service center leaving new owners in the lurch. My brand new RV sat on 2 service lots for a total of 15 months before I took delivery of it at all with an extensive list of warranty issues that appeared daily. Door out of alignment causing door to fly open in the locked position when staff drove the RV. Door and locks eventually had to be replaced but still had issues so they shaved part of the doorframe but still has issues. Awning jammed at one end and had to be repaired 3 times. Failed electronic bed twice, screws missing and gouges out of wood panels and only staples holding things together and half out, stereo and backup cameras failed, water pump failed and improperly installed, pipes under sink improperly installed all had to be replaced, 3 outdated TVs installed that do not have QAM tuners to handle cable, the main toilet pipe has a severe bend right below the trap so nothing can go past the pipes to the black tank where it burps air and sewage back up into the bathroom floor and the list goes on. During this time THOR customer service apologized and reassured me that once everything was resolved they would make right for this 15 month delay but as soon as I picked up the RV just over 15 months later THOR went back on their word, removed the person who was handling my case and had a verbal thug tell me that there was no way THOR was going to do a thing, that I was tough out of luck. I do believe that they had no intentions of keeping their word and allowed this delay to continue until my warranty expired as many other customers have experienced the exact same response. It was clear that my RV was never fully inspected at the factory so I had to pay a further $600 to have a full inspection done for my own peace of mind and the dealerships said they are sick and tired dealing with poor quality workmanship at THOR where they are left to clean their mess up and customers suffer lengthy waiting periods. My husband had passed away and that was my only reason for trading in my first RV for this new THOR. I was never able to take possession of my RV for a single day in 15 long and stressful months and they get away with this while I paid for RV storage, RV payments, Tax and Insurance for 15 months with no delivery and I trusted them and followed everything they told me to do not knowing it was nothing but a stalling tactic to let them off the hook. There are hundreds of complaints against THOR on many RV websites that are building and something needs to be done to regulate what is going on! I will be reporting this now to the Attorney Generals Office and calling an Attorney to file suit against them as I have given them multiple opportunities to make right on what I have had to endure!

Poorest quality and support. DONT BUY!

The First week our electrical system under our bed burned up. We're lucky to be alive. The slide outs kept coming out on there own. Many many little things. Like the shower is not level. The kitchen sink had a leak. There were nails coming up. Now all of our furniture in faux leather is deteriorating after 6 years and we had it parked under a garage for 3 of the 6 years. The outside vinyl pinstripes are all cracked after 3 years. They only stocked the pieces for 2 years so we can't replace it. The fiberglass is so thin that rock dings were cracking through the rear cap.

Warrenty Issues

We purchased our 30ft Bunk bed Thor Freedom Elite in May 2017, currently have 5200 miles on it, taking it back to Camping World for the third time this coming week. Still no word on a replacement for the upper bunk bed TV, per Camping World Thor has not responded to their request for a new one that works. Again the shower curtain popped out of it holder, this time with the frame, cutting me on top of my head (third time this has happen while taking a shower), water splash paper in the bathroom bubbling up , pocket door keep coming off the hinge, while driving down the road (third time for this also), trim around the kitchen sink coming undone, trim above overhead bed coming lose, water drain for fresh water leaks. Fords E450 is a great vehicle lots of power, no problem going up and down hills, however, THOR QA is *** poor. While at KOAs in AZ, NW and TX I talks with folks who also have a Thor, all of them have told me of their QA problems. First and last THOR I will own.

Thor Compass Do Not Purchase

Purchased a 2017 Thor Compass and it spent 4 months out of 12 at Camping World. The TV fell off the wall while driving down the road, a/c did not work, all overhead cabinet doors fell off, cracked shower pan, inside paneling started to bow, face of cabinet drawers fell off, the much bragged about sunroof rattles always along with goose neck faucet, mirrors in bath and slide out fell off, never figured out how the table worked. Sent several certified letters (and believe it or not some were rejected) and the best Thor could offer is a 3 month extended warranty on the day the warranty expired. This was offered to us while we were on our way to Arizona to trade it in and purchase a Winnebago. Thor is a company that does not stand by their products. A great deal of research was conducted prior to purchasing a Thor. Amazing but no bad reviews? There are companies that scrub bad reviews from the internet and it appears Thor could do this. Do not buy a Thor product.

We purchased a 2018 Thor Quantum KM24 (Mercedes Benz Sprinter Chassis) from General RV in Draper Utah April 25, 2018. As the vehicle we purchased was not available in Utah, we travelled to General RV in Grand Rapids, Michigan to pick it up.Our brand-new RV has been out of service for the last 39 days as of July 9, 2018; currently, there are no viable options in place by the manufacturer to return the vehicle to service – this is an open-ended problem with no solution.

Purchasing a Thor product was the biggest financial mistake of our lives. To meet the criteria for Utah’s New Motor Vehicle Warranties Act and the federal Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act, we are including the lengthy current open Work-Order from General RV in Draper, Utah, and addressing each item from the Utah Division of Consumer Protection, Department of Commerce website below:• The vehicle must have been purchased in the state of UtahPurchased April 25, 2018 at:General RV14295 Minuteman Dr.Draper, UT 84020(8**) **7-1070(A copy of the Service Agreement is included)• The vehicle must be new and under warrantyThe vehicle is a 2018 model purchased April 25, 2018, purchased warranty is 5-years bumper to bumper• The vehicle must be a car or truck weighing less than 12,000 pounds, or a motor homeThe vehicle is a motor home, GVW is 11,200 lbs.• The defect must “substantially impair the use, market value or safety of the vehicle.”A long list of manufacturing and design defects is included in the dealer’s Work-Order (included) – the PRIMARY manufacturing defect that substantially impairs the USE, MARKET VALUE, AND SAFETY of the vehicle is the ‘full-wall slide-out’ (see item #15 on dealer’s Work-Order). This ‘full-wall slide-out’ never worked, and malfunctioned each time we used it, and still does, even after extensive repairs performed multiple times over 6 weeks at two different dealer locations since the date of purchase. This serious manufacturing and design defect affects the usability as well as the safety of the vehicle. Every time the ‘full-wall slide-out’ is extended, it binds and the motors, gears, slides, and rollers break – every time.

The design and manufacture of the ‘full-wall slide-out’ is FAULTY and will NEVER work. In addition, the top, side, and cab-over walls of the vehicle were coming apart and spaces were opening between them (see item #3 & item #4 on dealer’s open Work-Order). Although this was repaired by the dealer, there is a high likelihood that this problem will continue throughout the life of the vehicle. Additional problems that impact the usability and market value of the vehicle are the poor gasket and seal installation, leading to gaps throughout the unit in the walls, ceiling, and floor, allowing leakage of rain into the vehicle and mold/rust in narrow spaces (see items #3, #4, #6, #7, and #8 on dealer’s Work-Order – we could see the sky above and street below while inside the vehicle).• The vehicle must have been in for repairs for the same defect at least four times, OR out of service to the consumer a total of 30 days in either one year or the warranty period, whichever is lessThis vehicle was purchased April 25th, 2018 and picked up in Michigan on May 11th, 2018.

Since the vehicle was picked up at the dealer’s, it has been out of service and in repair four days in Michigan and 38 days in Utah and counting, and currently there is no anticipated date when it will be put back into service – that is 41 days out of service in the first three months as of July 8, 2018.• The defect cannot be the result of abuse, neglect or unauthorized modifications of the vehicleThe defects are due to gross negligence during the manufacturing process, lack of quality control at the manufacturer’s, AND major flaws in the design of the ‘full-wall slide-out’.• The consumer must first go through any informal dispute settlement or arbitration procedure the manufacturer may have establishedThe pathway to dispute settlement or an arbitration process with Thor and/or General RV is murky and very confusing. In fact, we believe the two companies may be one entity, as evidenced by the fact that General RV recently purchased a defunct Fort Motors plant in Wixom, Michigan and is utilizing it as an assembly location. There is nothing in our owner’s manual about dispute settlement or arbitration, nor were we supplied with information on how to initiate dispute settlement or arbitration with either General RV or Thor Industries. Our phone messages and emails to Thor Industries Customer Service have gone unanswered – no one EVER picks up the telephone when we call.

When we contacted the Draper, Utah General RV General Manager regarding arbitration with Thor Industries, he gave us a contact with General RV in Wixom Michigan, the Grand Rapids-area dealer where we picked up our vehicle. We have now way to engage with the manufacturer to initiate arbitration.
