New Ace at dealer since August 4th 2014,

Dear Thor Motorcoach, Inc., Where do I begin? The nightmare we had when we purchased our 2014 A.C.E. 27.1 or with the continuing nightmare I have every time I drive it. We have currently place 1100 miles on it and I am considering not using it again as I am afraid it...

Update: Thor Manufacturing is still not responsive to fixing the problem. Camping World has an out in the purchase agreement you sign.

It states they are not responsible for any Manufacturing Warranty issues.

Maybe we all need to get together and place a class action lawsuit against Thor, by the way it is not even American Owned. It is a foreign corporation.

Disgusted worker

I work there and I can tell you that if the people were paid like other places and not worked 13 to 15 hour days they are so burned out and struggling to make ends meet they would build a better coach trust me They treat their workers like your coach was built sorry to...

I find this as a poor excuse to do poor quality work. The company seems to have a very poor quality control dept.

We bought a 2013 Tuscany 42wx new in Oct 2014 and it has been at the dealer for the whole time except for two weekends, the slide outs don't work and there are numerous small problems that should have been found at the factory before it ever left. We are hoping the factory can get things fixed because the dealer does not seem to be able or want to fix them.

2012 Thor Hurricane Air leaks in living room slide.[VIN#1465F5DY3C0A03192]

We were camping at Syracuse, NY early in October and noticed cold air coming in under the couch. The heater ran excessively during our stay. When returning home my husband reported a strong draft from the front slide above his head. Our mechanic looked at the problem and states it is a problem with the Swintec slide manufacturer. There are key-shaped openings to the outside allowing air to come in, in the slide. This would not be a problem if we only camped in warm months, but we had intended traveling year-round. What can be done to remedy this problem?

Purchase of Thor Motor Home from Camping World

I purchased a Tuscany 40FX from Camping World in Denver, CO. Worst experience in my life. I have been a full timer since 1982, so I am used to the poor quality and slipshod work. Airstream was purchased by Thor several years ago. None of Airstreams reputation comes from anything Thor contributed. MY only saving grace was to find a Thor Dealer I Grass Valley, CA. DeMartini RV. They have been wonderful and I have had outstanding service from them from the minute I drove in. Why we don't interview service managers before we buy is beyond me. Once we have made the purchase, that's the last we see of the sales person and now we have to deal with the service department. I love my Tuscany and since finding DeMartini everything seems to be OK. Camping World had nothing to do with my satisfaction.

De Martini no different than the rest. Service is great there I agree, but purchase from them and once your Thor starts to fall apart (within days after our purchase) sales/owners want nothing to do with you other than make sure you pay your service bill before you get the keys back.

2015 Thor Chateau-Been in the shop more than camping.

Purchased a brand new 2015 Thor Chateau for Camping World in Myrtle Beach, SC. First off the customer service the after the purchase has been terrible. I would never buy another coach from them and I have purchased many in my 25 years. We have owned our coach 8 weeks and Camping World has had it all but 2 weekends. It has an electric awning. It goes out just fine but will not go back up unless you are pushing it. During a wind our first weekend, we had to get a ladder out and hand roll it up while pushing the button. It also sticks out too far when closed. A good wind is going to catch it while going down the road and we will lose it. The black and grey tank meter wires were crossed. It took us complaining after both weekends for them to finally have a mechanic that knew what he was doing to see that the wires were reversed. It has a regular full size home refrigerator so the doors keep flying open. Camping World has suggested Velcro. Poor is all I can say about Thor and Camping World. I will never ever purchase from them again. This will probably be the quickest trade in ever.

Thor Miramar Slide Motors Need To Be Replaced

My family & I ordered a new Thor Miramar, and picked it up at Camping World of Syracuse New York. The man who delivered us the rv was a retired gentleman who could not explain any of the features to us. We were rushed through the coach so fast we had to ask for time to look it over, upon looking it over we found so many concerns. For instance peeling paint, tears in the interior ,cabinets broke, electrical componets not working, the flooring buckled, blinds not the correct size, and many more. We were assured this would all be taken care of, I bring the rv home and I am ready to use it and the slide would not go in, I call Thor they tell me find my own mobile service to come out and work on getting the slide back in, pay them and we will reimburse me ???? So I do, now the rv goes back to camping world for new slide motors which Camping World told me Thor will replace with new bigger motors since they have had many problems with them. DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE i DID !!!! When you pick up your new rv at any dealer don't let them rush you out the door. STAY THE NIGHT IN YOUR NEW RV AND GO THROUGH EVERYTHING BEFORE YOU TAKE DELIVERY, MAKE THEM REPAIR IT ON THE SPOT. DISAPPOINTED IN THOR AND CAMPING WORLD !!!!

Yup.... The slide, in our experienced opinion, is far too big for the Lippert Schwintek electric 500/1 ratio motors that Thor uses in their super wall slides.

I bought a 2017 Miramar 33.4 and have had multiple malfunctions since my 6 months of ownership. I've had it repaired 4 times (last time sent it back to Indiana).

Unfortunately (as we are young and have just a few years left with our camping-aged children), we have abandoned the RVing life and have since filed a suit - as they just keep pushing us around....

I have no confidence in the Thor super slide wall system whatsoever! I wish you better luck if you have one.

I had to spend the night in mine. The inverter burned up and I had no power,ac or tv.

Still so many things going wrong. Very disappointed and sorry I purchased this nightmare.

Looked at new miramar at camping world when we put the large driver side slide out the slide was difficult to go out and the sales man told me that the battery wasn't fully charged, I watched it pull into the yard from a test drive and the folks test driving it where talking about the same issue so I know from my mechanical aptitude the battery was good the motors where over loaded, Slide is way to big!!

DO NOT SPEND MONEY ON THOR - NOT A QUALITY PRODUCT

We purchased a 2011 32' Hurricane new in February 2011. Nothing but trouble. Automatic steps had to be repaired. One of the slides had to be repaired. Some of the cabinet doors were not installed properly. "Gunk" held the kitchen sink together. Drawers keep falling apart. Most of this was in while still under warranty, was fixed and broke again. They would not fix it again. We even have extended warranty. We called and sent a letter several times. Only to be told it is out of warranty. We absolutely take great pride in our homes - with and without wheels - and do not abuse them in any way. Our retirement travel dreams are no longer! Forgot to mention the five recalls....

It may not be the carbon monoxide detector. Thor left all kinds of holes through the floor which lets CO in from under the coach from either the engine or generator or water heater.

In ours we found places you could stick your hand through to underneath. Real poor quality.

Thor Tuscany viewers, I am a man of my word. Back in Feb.

I wrote about my experience with my 2013 Thor Tuscany 45LT. I discussed all the problems with it & how I thought that the builder did not pay attention to detail & just shipped the RV with problems. After sending Thor a detailed list of all the problems that my local authorized dealer could not repair, they contacted me to inform me of what they wanted to do to correct the RV. I just returned from their service center in Elkhart Indiana.

Thor picked up my RV 3 weeks ago & had a professional driver bring it to them. They started on the repairs on schedule based on the list of things to address. The service manager started to inform me almost daily by email the progress of the repairs. I found that to be a plus. For the first time I did not have to chase anyone for info on the progress.

Next, I was in contact with the original setup person who contacted me from the beginning & he informed me that the unit will be ready on time & that someone would contact me with the arrangements to fly me out there to view all the repairs to my satisfaction. Then they were going to fly me back home & have the RV delivered the same way they picked it up. I chose only to fly out & drive the unit back the 950 miles home myself. At this time, I am reporting that I have confidence in Thor's repair facility in Elkhart.

They went above & beyond what I expected & found /replaced items I didn't even know about. I am giving that dept. a thumbs up! The total cost to them was in the vicinity of $12500.

It cost me $0.00 They even paid for the tolls/fuel back. Although I still think that the shop that builds these need to pay closer attention to detail, Thor does have some very competent people that I think should be noted.

Now I'm going RVing!

Thor Tuscany? Not Worth 1/4 Million +$$$

My house that was built to last longer than 6 months cost only a little more than our Tuscany 2013 made by Thor. We purchased our Thor the end of August of 2013. Today is Nov. 3 of 2013. The auto step had to be fixed even before we purchased the unit. This should have been a warning. We were not even out of the sales lot when we found that none of the Bay keys worked. Within 2 days, we had a list of about 12 items needed for warranty work: A short, non-inclusive list: 1) Large Front Awning (a 40 footer with 3 awnings) would not roll out without using a “stick” as a prod; 2) A leather cushion torn on the slide-out love seat; 3) glue stuck to the bedroom shower which we could not get off; 4) a passenger slide-out that wouldn’t go all the way “In”, leaving about a 2 inch gap; 5) A front door that locked us out 2x when closed from the outside (at a cost of almost $100 for a lock-pick to get us back in); 5) night shades that wouldn’t come up without moving the whole mechanism (really poor planning and quality control); 6) a refrigerator door that came open numerous times (which we were assured it would not do) without putting a bungee cord around it; 7) Passenger front seat foot rest and swivel kept coming loose from the cable and would not work; 8) The cover on the driver’s side storage container (inside) won’t hold anything more than a map without coming off; 9) lights inside generator unit stayed on 24/7; 9) the screen door latch was so far away from the hook, it wouldn’t make a connection and therefore was open all the time. This BRAND-NEW unit was taken to Camping World, where it was purchased, within 1 month with these items and a few more. As a result, Thor has yet to provide approval for the passenger slide to be fixed; the awning works on and off; the cushion still has not arrived; we purchased another front door key to “hide” outside as no one seemed to be able to fix this issue; I’m still trying to get the glue off the shower stall, as that was not addressed at all; The night shades roller was moved (as I had done as a stop-gap measure) to an edge to get it close and we were told it was fixed; We bought a bungee cord for the fridge; Passenger seat worked until we turned it to face the salon TV at which point it became non-working again; the service dept couldn’t seem to find the cover that comes loose (I’m leaving it off for our next trip to Camping World), but the latch was fixed as were the lights on the generator compartment! WWOW: 2 of 9+ items. Today, we were ready to leave our spot in Lakeland and head for the SE coast of Florida when our driver’s side front slide came about 2 inches inches on the top and about 8 inches in on the bottom. No matter what we tried, there was obviously a serious problem. Thor service was TOTALLY NON-RESPONSIVE (it’s now after 8:00 pm; we called them at 10 am) and it’s supposed to be 24/7 support. We called Good Sam Emergency Service and they responded within 30 minutes sending someone to us to see if they could remedy the problem. Much to their credit, they tried but their knowledge of this particular coach and its problems was lacking. Another $450. We called a local Thor Dealer and talked with their tech support. Their suggestion? Leave the slide 3/4 way out and drive it to the local Camping World! EXCUSE ME??? While they said it would be okay to drive with a slide 3/4 of the way out, I don’t think so. Whose responsibility would it be if we got a major traffic ticket for driving an “Over-Wide” load without a permit or someone hit our kitchen and drug it down the highway 1000 feet? That, I must honestly and blatantly say, was the most *** thing I heard all day. When we purchased this unit, we were told that it was made by Thor, the same company that made Airstream and had been in business for decades. This is true. However, apparently their vigor to break into the Class A RV market was ahead of their engineering. Frankly we could have purchased a 40-45 foot unit with as nice of an interior and a much better exterior and “working parts” for the same amount. When a unit sells for $275K, you don’t expect to have serious problems -- especially a slide-out that is stuck 3/4 of the way out -- and get such a serious lack of response from the company. I am well aware that it is a Sunday, but RV’s TRAVEL ON SUNDAYS, all the time and in every state. We could understand and tolerate “break-in” issues as we’ve owned RV’s for 30 years and are aware this goes with the program. However, serious engineering and sloppy work (oh yeah, we loaded a Zip Lock bag full of bolts, screws, plastic parts, what appears to be plastic handcuff parts, etc in the slide roller mechanism of the unit) which is likely to be responsible for the slide coming off it’s rollers, is not expected. Here's the pic: We are dismayed and disgusted in Lakeland, Florida, and still waiting on a call from the "24/7" Thor emergency call line. The unit was purchased at Camping World in Gardner/Raleigh N.C., supposedly "fixed" in camping World out of Asheville, NC and has less than 1000 miles. Gerald & Sheila King

Sorry to hear you've had so many issues. You went wrong first by going to camping world.

They are the worst. We have a 2015 Thor and love it... We went to Lazy Days in Florida. It was prepared before with got there.

Good luck! With camping world

#894908

Once Thor gets your money, it's all over. I have a new Miramar that is absolutely falling apart as it sits in camping world for the last 5 month waiting for the extensive list of repairs to be completed.

I wonder what Thor would do with a class action lawsuit? I am so tired of calling, e-mailing and complaining to no avail.

#871660

Thank you for taking the time to warn others.

I was finalizing the purchase of a new Tuscany 45 AT, from MHSRV, but after reading this review along with several others found on RV Forums, etc., I have decided to purchase the other brand we also considered.

However, I am looking at other dealers and will probably buy from someone else who doesn't carry the Thor brand if the price is at all close.

I think consumers need to send a message to the manufacturers (and the dealers that carry their product) that we are tired of poor customer service & quality control. (However, rest assured that I will also stay away from Camping World RV sales, their name appears in far too many of these negative reports.)

Buy a Newmar. We have Dutch Star. Quality is great and the slides are the best in the industry!
