Generic manual!

I bought my 2014 Thor ACE motorhome 29.2 new. I am in the process of gutting the dinette booth area to put in a cabinet with a TV lift and small table.

I got tired of turning my head sideways to watch TV on the couch!

But that is not my main complaint. Thor tried to save money by combining 3 different motorhomes into one owner's manual! The manual is so generic, it took me 2 days to find the 12 volt fuse box that was not explained in the generic manual. Forget about working on plumbing or electrical as Thor wants you to pay a Thor dealership for that.

Upon request they will e-mail you a plumbing/electrical diagram but the one page diagram is very vague. What happened to the good Thor manuals that showed diagrams of the inside and outside of your particular motorhome, detailed wiring and plumbing diagrams, motorhome parts and their part numbers.

Purchased 2015 Thor Vegas. In delivery day front tire was visibly low on air as were two back tires. Windshield filthy. Took 3.5 hours for camping world to clean windshields and put air in tires so we could drive away. The first issue we had was with a/c unit. It would only blast away at high, could not select auto or low. The cameras on both sides alternately stopped working. Delamination issues in bathroom. Leak on drivers side, gasket around windshield came off as we're driving down the road, main engine battery dead and needed to be replaced, hanging wires, door lock assembly failed and we were locked inside the coach. Tire stem issue, needed replacement on double back tires, outside shower compartment lock malfunction/replacement, 12 volt outlets inoperable on passenger side, bathroom shower head needed full replacement, caulking missing at bottom of shower pan. Most of these issues occurred within 12 months/2000 mi. Camping World and Thor were totally useless. We were left on our own to seek repair. We got reimbirsed for $400 from Thor, after spending thousands. Buyet beware when dealing with Thor or camping world.

2015 Thor Windsport 34J ....the saga continues

where to begin..... We bought a BRAND NEW 2015 Windsport 34J at CAMPING WORLD KINGSTON NY.....Never regreted something so much in my life(and i've been married 3 times). We are new to RVing, having only rented rv's previously, and we decided to purchase a NEW unit due to our inexperience. well the day to take delivery finally arrived, now i was a car salesman for a while, so i remember doing a walkaround with the customer prior to delivery(never happened) they sent us a porter that did noy know where the light switch was....we had some concerns and they wrote everything down to fix at a later date i.e. outside kitchen door not aligned, missing screen. off we went with our brand new mortgage on wheels..... March 2015 we decided on maiden voyage Washington DC here we come....driving on blizzard like conditions we trudged down 95south to College Park MD..great RV park. got there Friday afternoon, beautiful Saturday in DC met a good friend thru UBER MAD MIKE....planning on heading back Sunday (am ...unhooked....click...battery dead , emergency start...ok here we go...except the jacks won't retract, in fact when i hit the button they would raise, also discovered mystery leak in bathroom, doors would not align, drawers would fly open well...all the character flaws that makes Thor ownership a FUN EXPERIENCE. so..Mike drove us back to Clifton NJ in a Toyota Prius my girl , myself, Mike ...and his girl as well as our luggage(impressive) Contacted Good Sam roadside( nothing they can do) Camping world earliest appointment in 2 weeks took Amtrak following week to pickup RV a nice gentleman Earl from Earl's RV(apparently this guy singlehandedly services all of Md. and DE RV repairs) retracted the jacks. Anyways dropped off unit at Camping World Kingston NY on April 3rd, they had the unit for 2 months, and did nothing to it...so i went back to pick it up...supposedly they ordered parts ...never heard from them again, and well i am the PROUD OWNER OF THOR INDUSTRIES WINDSPORT 34 J ....We call it MOBYE

i bought this trailer in 04 i had problems with this unit since day one ! .i have argued with the co. with a list of problems . My main problem is it was the first 102 wide trailer and they used all 96" parts to put on it ,drip edges ,rear door springs ect... The body is so heavy that it is folding the frame extensions and falling off the frame in a result of all this the walls are cracking and major water leaks ! All this damage has happened it the first 2 yrs and has been sitting since and has become a 30k $ storage shed .. If any body else has this problem lets get together master-cycles@***.net

UNHAPPY ONE TIME CUSTOMER

8 months ago we purchased a Thor Windsport We are constantly having to override to close slides , fuses blow, and the seat cushions!!! How can you sit on cushions that won't stay put. First time we used the couch air mattress it would not hold air!! The RV rattles like its going to fall apart down the road.Our dealer says Thor can do nothing about that??? moulding strips pop off, all paper is peeling, very poorly made, and the smell, not a new smell something different. We thought that would dissipate. NOT! Is there a problem with insulation and or wood used?my last RV we traded was 2 yrs and still smelled new! so very disappointed.Should have stuck to our 5th wheels, so much better quality and more amenities for the $$$$$ VERY UNHAPPY!!!! NEED HELP

Thor Motor Coaches are all bad quality! The Thor company just does not care about quality and their employees don't care about quality, period. This as all of their products, including their Class A and C motor-homes. Sad to see that Made in America means so little as far as quality goes. Our Thor Class C is the poorest made coach we have ever seen. Support from Thor is just lip service. Just sad. Also, support from Camping World is abysmal. We finally took our Class C to a different Thor dealer because Camping World is so bad! Stay away from Thor and from Camping World. Both are terrible and an insult to American workers!

Purchased this Thor Vortex 5th wheel Toyhauler brand new from Freedom RV Tucson Arizona in 2007. I have had no end of issues starting with sliding door never staying latched.

The mirrored doors never stay on the tracks. The dvd stereo player had to be replaced. My first set of tir blow-outs tore off the wheel well molding. The last set of blow-out tires hit the refrigerator gas line!

Thank god my 14 year old heard the hissing it could have blew us all up! (See picture) In 2012 we got carbon monoxide poisoning from the generator leaking under the bed. In 2015 the welds on the hitch neck all 4 sides were broken but 2 inches. It was literally holding by a bead.

We discovered it by a fluke as it was swaying all over side to side. If we would have taken it on the interstate it could have snapped and broke away from the tow vehicle right into traffic injuring someone else. Since then we discovered the whole frame is now bent and resting on the tires. The exterior body has hairline cracks and the exterior paint and decals are faded.

The manufacturing of Thor Vortex is terrible and we feel we have a lemon! It has basically almost killed us three times.

Thor Industries - 2007 Thor Windsport Review from Smithfield, Virginia

We have had nothing but problems with our windsport, most of them electrical issues. We are on our third Transformer as they keep burning out. We continue to have dead battery issues. The fuse panel under the hood had issues and part of it melted. The leather furniture turned out to be some kind of cloth with liquid leather sprayed on it and flaked and peeled and looks horrible. This company has no quality control and when we saw a special a news report about Thor we realized why. Their technicians are paid by the completed job, not by the hour. In the news report they were running from vehicle to vehicle which explains why the dresser drawer supports only had one screw in each side and we were given a big bag of extra screws when we bought the coach. We feel like we got screwed. We bought a new coach thinking we wouldn't have a lot of issues like you can get sometimes with a used unit. If I had my time to go over I would have purchased someone else's used unit and definitely not a Thor product.

New Thor Hurricane 34F

I purchased a new unit a month ago. It has been in the shop for the past three weeks for problems.

Electric Water heater blows breaker, Ice maker did not function, missing part on awning, slits in the vinyl floor, several of the exterior storage door hinges defective. How long does it take for Thor to correct these problems? Not getting good answer from Camping World Lake City, FL.

Do I need to just tell the dealer to take this one back and replace it?

We bought a new 2016 Windsport 29M at the Hershey Show this fall. The same day we picked it up from Camping World we had issues with the automatic leveling system.

From there it went down hill quickly. The bed frame was literally falling apart, The sliderails to the drawers fell apart, The wood holding the drawer latches were all splitting out. Cabinet door was warped. The coach AC didn't work.

It was missing 2-1/2 pounds of freon. Chrome plating on the sideview mirror is peeling off. More then 30 items found. Unit was dropped off around the 18th of Oct.

Unit still not completed. I insisted to bring it home two weeks ago since I didn't want to worry about it in the snow. I feel for you.

Maybe a class action law suit should be our next move.

Water Leaks = DEADLY BLACK MOLD

Hi folks, I found this page by chance after searching and researching options in the fifth wheel and travel trailer market, my wife and I are seriously looking to purchase a trailer. My primary concern is that most of you have experienced water leakes in your trailers and I'm not sure how many of you truly understand the risk of exposing yourself and your family to BLACK MOLD! Black mold is not a joke, it will make you and yours extremely sick. Most people don't know that when construction material is exposed to moisture even for a short time the possibility of a black mold blum is almost certain. This means even if you get the manufacture to fix the problem chances are that behind your wall or under your carpet you will have a massive BLACK MOLD problem. I at one time thought that Black mold was a joke, I thought it was one more thing that "super sensitive folks" complained about, but type in black mold in your browser and please read. I have a very close friend and his family who suffered from such a problem in their newley built home and now my friend and his son have serious neurological issues!!! I realized that the he mold was a serious problem when their newly built home was condemned and they were forced to walk away from their $450,000 home and almost everything in it. Please be aware of the fact that with exposure to water the walls , sub floor, carpet, carpet padding and many other things that your trailer is made of may have a BLACK MOLD outbreak and cause your family to get very sick...

We have an ace27.5. Have had numerous little problems that drive one crazy. Initially before we took it off the lot they had to have the generator repaired/new 2015. The slide pantry wouldn't stay closed while driving and the pantry door across had to be replaced 2xs. We now bungee it because it still doesn't stay closed. Drawer in step didn't stay closed and had to be replaced be caused I stepped into it. Last time we took it in to have a door replaced, the service tech that that was the last day of warranty. We now are on an extended trip. The motor on the step has gone out and we had to bungee it closed. Open the window and couldn't close it because the window went off the track. Had to take screen off and can't get it back on. The slider topper hinge cracked and the cover twisted and the whole thing had to be replaced. My husband replaced fans with remote controls because we both were too short to reach them. No ladder with bed over driver. With dining table up. Bench seat is too narrow for normal size people. Our granddaughters 3 and 7 were comfortable. I haven't hit everything but my husband is disgusted with the workmanship and we are seriously thinking of replacing it. Loved our old Minnie Winnie and should have kept it.

Your right, our ladder for overhead bunk was missing as well,

dealer ordered from Thor and it came 3 weeks later and was the wrong one. Finally got right ladder a month later!

We bought this Thor piece of *** a year ago, had to cancel

south winter holiday for many repairs.

Now 2016 spring & summer cancelled because of mega repairs and problems!

I believe we are up to 5 or 6 pages of problems & faults now.

Note! Thor`s motor home Engineering, quality control, designing, Has to be a 2 out of 10 very disappointed!!!

We bought a 2015 Thor Miramar motor coach. We have had numerous problems.

Furniture circuit board replaced 2x, passenger window was cut out 2inches bigger than the window, led lights on awning didn't work, no brake lights & laundry lists of other problems!!! This unit left the factory floor w/out being inspected!!! This will be the last motor home we will purchase from Thor!!! The quality & workmanship is deplorable!!!

The CEO should be fire!!!

Now I wish we would of kept our '04 Winnie!!!

NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THOR CORPORATION--NEVER

Thor is the worst company I have ever encountered. I bought an ACE 27.1 in Feb. 2014. Over the nearly TWO years I have owned it, the RV has been at the dealer having one after another problem fixed for a total of ONE YEAR OUT OF COMMISSION. Some of the problems include: leveling jacks, radio, sliding door, shelves in the closets, awning malfunction, counter material popping up and off, ceiling material bubbling, leaking windshield, decals on outside bubbling, leaking storage bins. And it goes on. The assembly and quality control from Thor are TERRIBLE. I'm still fighting for my right to a decent product but will probably sell at a loss soon. Consulted an attorney--it would take up to two years to file suit, etc. and I'd have to keep the RV throughout. It's time for it to go. NEVER, EVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THOR CORPORATION. NEVER. TELL YOUR FRIENDS, TOO.

I have had numerous problems with my ace 27.1 also on third radio. charging problems, which where fixed by camping world not service center windrow rattle fixed once but coming back. Still enjoy this model just lots of bugs.

I bought a 2015 Thor Windsport and I have 2000 miles on it and almost all of the miles are from coming and going to the repair shop! I haven't made one trip in it yet!

Yesterday I got another recall notice for it! Junk thrown together junk! I'm going to plan a trip first of next year to Texas and buy a real motor coach and trade this piece of *** in!

Never again! I had water coming in thru the slide shop said its fixed first rain after getting back leaking every where!

Please dont buy a winnebago via , bought new one in 2012 had nothing but trouble , driveshaft replaceed at mt cost, tie rods replaced atmy cost, slide broke all bearings fell out fixed at my cost many many small issues .spent 12,000 in 3 years put up with dozens of little things . Dumped it for a new 2016 ace by thor . Here we go all over again

2015 "lemon" Thor ACE motor home

we bought a new 2015 ACE last year,,July. We spent the entire summer going from one repair facility to another-- the water heater broke twice, the slide motor burnt out,the windshield washer motor burnt out, the step motor burnt out,the trim fell off the night stands,,I could continue. Each time Thor "stood by their warranty" but we lost days of vacation time. This summer--the slide stopped working again-we had to call road advice to help us push it in(not fixed), the generator quit, the water pump quit and apparently when the slide was pushed in a kitchen sink water line was "cut" because now that leaks! Once again we are cutting vacation short & heading back to Camping World with our "lemon"! Does anyone know if there is a lemon law for motor homes?? Help!

Florida does have a lemon law but it favors the manufacturers for the most part and the AG will be no help at all, she helped make those laws the way they are. If you do not qualify under the state law, you probably will under the federal one since it is much more friendly to consumers.

You have to apply first under the state then move on if your issue doesn't have anything to do with the motor or chassis, the remaining problems are covered under the federal law. Be prepared for about two years of back and forth with Thor's lawyers and lots of stalling.

Yes there is a state lemon law, each state is different but if you don't qualify under the state statutes generally if you have had lots of repairs in a short period of time, you will qualify under the federal law. Lots of folks taking advantage of this route.

If there is any justice left in the world, there would be. We have had a similar fate but when we last checked, there was no lemon law in Florida.

I recommend contacting the state Attorney General. Best of luck to all in this predicament.

There is a lemon law in Ohio and we are pursuing it for our thor windsport. Our situation is similar to yours.

Call the states consumer protection office. They can help.
