Review in Dealers category from Newark, New Jersey

We just purchased a 2017 Thor Vegas 1 month ago and are on our first trip from co to San Diego, the engine A/C went out several hours on the road! Called the sales manager and he told us to use the generator and the Ac in the coach, day two, the generator quit in Las Vegas after filling up with gas!!! The kitchen sink pipe wasn't tightened so we had a flood on the floor while doing dishes. We paid $86,000 cash and sorry but I think it's a piece of *** and I'm very disappointed after spending so much money, I want to return it and get my money back!! First trip and it needs to go into the shop already, ain't right!!

Overall guality

I have drove the subject coach on two trips all across the US and Canada. I am quite happy with the Ford frame and drive train. I am happy with the coach but have some comments regarding a lack of an acceptable quality assurance program. Some examples include: a) I had to fix a leak below the roof antenna. The leak had been "fixed" apparently, but not adequately. b) the carpet along the fire wall and below the dash had been improperly installed with open edges out versus tucked under. I fixed that with carpet glue and staples. c) A mushroom is forming on the edge of the windshield between the glass laminates. In Durante said they can't be responsible for a new windshield. Poor glass construction can be caught at the factory. d) I have tried two times and hopefully have fixed the wooden top face piece on the main slide out. It comes loose and has to be entirely glued back on-like from the factory. My next fix will be installation of steel flat stock and bolts. There is more, but I must seem to be complaining too much. No "how do you like our product" note ever came to my house. I fix things myself rather than drive to a dealer approved service place (50) miles and more, because too many trips would be needed. And, I have been severely burned by low quality trash and extreme measures to get repairs with last RV I owned-a Coachman trailer. I thought moving up to a motor home would solve that problem. But, I will see how year number three goes for travel, etc.

Fun mover water leaks

After owning this 2003 fun mover for six years, keeping a cover on it, I have been chasing water leaks since. I replaced the rubber roof thinking this should take care of the water leaks. The things I found were shocking. This thing was doomed before it left the factory. The aluminum roof hatch was screwed into luan/foam on three sides,80% of the screws were stripped out of the foam, then caulked over, then screwed into the aluminum framing on the one side.If they moved the screws in a 1/2 inch they would have mounted the whole thing to the aluminum framing, come on.. The first trip after the new roof, during a rain storm,I found water on the floor again.I know it could't be the roof after the time and effort put in to sealing everything. Then after looking in the cabinet under the refrigerator,I could see water coming from the refrigerator wall vent area.Went outside to look at the wall vent and the grates are facing up.I'm thinking the water is just flowing in the grates right on to the floor.I start looking at the vent frame and can see the weep/drain holes are on the top. The refrigerator wall vent assembly was installed upside down allowing water to infiltrate the motor home. When removing the frame to flip it over,I could tell it was installed at the factory and had never been removed before. How could someone be so *** when they installed it upside down? Then get by QC,if they have that.

Thor Industries Rv Review from Phoenix, Arizona

We are on a trip with our Vegas, the curtains have had to be replaced, and they are falling apart again, the pipe for the kitchen sink is broke, and water goes all over. The table fell apart when we tried to dismantle it. We have had the motor home for a year , due to sickness this is the first time we have used it. Then when wwe went to use the bunk they never gave us the ladder. Nice motor home if things didn't fall apart

2015 Thor Industries Ace Rv Review from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

I have had a 2yr problem with my new coach, Thor is slow to resolve the problems with this. Bought coach in 2014 it was a 2015 model it has spent well over 450 days in the shop , either waiting on parts or trying to get it fixed. Recently it sat in the dealership from Sept 2015 to present and they still haven't fixed the problem but while they were attempting to fix it the broke other things. I have been going round and round with there service manager John V. My name is Mark R. 386-984-****

Generic manual!

I bought my 2014 Thor ACE motorhome 29.2 new. I am in the process of gutting the dinette booth area to put in a cabinet with a TV lift and small table. I got tired of turning my head sideways to watch TV on the couch! But that is not my main complaint. Thor tried to...

2016 Thor Palazzo

Talk about a company with NO quality control! The following are issues from my maiden voyage in our new Palazzo. 1) Headlights work sparingly 2) When headlights or running lights are turned on, dash lights blink out of control 3) Generator periodically shuts off 4) Generator does not power up the coach 5) Inverter does not power up the coach 6) Camping World in Las Vegas broke the battery connector mechanism to the inverter 7) Water in from city overflows the fresh water tank 8) Bolt broke on step motor connector 9) LP Gas gauge in coach does not work 10) LP Gas gauge on tank only works occasionally 11) Light outside entry door does not work 12) Front shade does not follow track 13) Outside electricity cable does not screw on or attach tightly 14) Outside TV infrared doesn’t work. Can't change channels and sound doesn’t work 15) Braces on both sides under front connected to metal and fiberglass broke 16) No microphone in Bluetooth center screen (can hear phone, but I can’t be heard) 17) Several shelves don’t fit in cupboards I was told there would be minor issues until the bugs got worked out, but this is ridiculous. Horrible quality.

Same with me-- however had steering gear pump out- windshield leaks- shower stall not caulked, clothing washer not hooked up to waste tank resulting in huge water leak- coach batteries blowing up spilling acid everywhere due to faulty charging system, main slide problems- not working- coming in crooked- warping flashing so that outside seal does not lay flat on side of motorhome--- and having the front bunk bed not raise due to the window valance not being mounted to wall so that bed hit wall and would not raise- Oh and forgot water maker in fridge leaking. Been in shop 3 months still don't have it back---

There are probably simple fixes, fuses that need to be replaced, etc. for this coach.

Radio has a speaker you need to hook up that comes with the instructions that you probably didn't read. Is this your first motorhome?

#1174280

I agree.... Very poor quality control issues.

I just bought a Miramar 2017 34.3 and had all kinds of issues. Chassis AC doesn't work, super side had a motor short and tons of other little things.

Thinking we should have stuck to Winnebago..... We'll see how they fix.....

Freedom Elite is poor RV

In 2013 I bought a new Freedom Elite class C and regretted it. I was planning a very long cross-country trip and Camping World sales assured me this unit would handle it. They were wrong or misinformed or ignorant or lying - not sure which. Thor does nothing to the chassis to handle the extra weight so the handling and steering are terrible, almost dangerous. It wandered all over the road in the slightest wind. The shocks were stock so bumpy roads shook the rig to the point where things fell apart (I was on interstate-type roads). The microwave started making its escape from the cabinet mid-trip one day and I had to pull over before it fell on the floor. It was bolted in but very poorly. Many other things rattled loose. In less than 3000 miles I was done with it and traded it in on a nice SUV to finish my trip. I probably lost $15k in that whole experience. It was a sad day after I had put 50+ hours into customizing and equipping it with gadgets. I learned: cheap RV's are no bargain - maybe OK for a weekend trip or two per year of 100 miles. Also, get stabilizer jacks if not included. That thing rocked all night long from the wind.

2016 Thor Motor Coach Challenger Rv Review from Fort Worth, Texas

I too bought a 2016 Thor Challenger. I had the same thing happen a bad rain storm, it was the first time I used the wipers and after ten minutes they jammed and we had to drive without the wipers. The day we picked up the RV it went right back to the dealer with a faulty inverter, the fresh water tank leaked, the floor was coming up by one of the slides, toilet seat was missing a screw, one of the back up lights was not working, and the wine rack does not hold wine properly as it as made correctly and this is just a few items.

2007 Impulse assembled by children or *** Leaks like a screen door!

A leak in the cab over is not un common and it is easy to see why. If my workmanship was that poor I would get fired. Thor must award their employees for this behavior because it takes more than one person to assemble these things and the whole thing stinks! The trim around the cab probably comes in a big spool so they attach it and then cut it with a cuircular saw. Right through the rubber roof about a 6" long cut. The cabinet doors are falling off, the fiberglass walls are all separating. Even the small doors that open are puffing out. Do not waste your money on this junk!

Poor Quality

My wife and I were looking at a 29.4 Ace motor home at camping world, Since we have retired we want to travel trouble free. After reading this I think we are going to run like *** in the other direction. Well I guess this requires 100 words so have to keep going. I presently have a 29ft. tag along travel trailer. We thought it would be nice to step up to a motor home, and have a more relaxing travel and stay. The Ace seemed to have a nice floor plan, and a price that doesn't kill your pocket book. However after reading this maybe the cost is down up front, but you pay dearly on the back end.

Don't buy a Thor. Very poor build quality and no apparent quality control.

Then, if you have a problem, the *** at Camping World don't know what they are doing. I wouldn't let them do an oil change at Camping World.

We had a Winnebago Jorney and traded for a Tuscany. What a mistake. Thor is all bull *** and problems.

2014 Thor Hurricane 27F Headache

Bought a new 2014 Thor Hurricane 27F in July '14 from MHSRV. Have a little over 8000 miles on it now. Keep it indoors and use it 6 to 8 times a year. Have had air conditioner problems, coach electrical problems, inverter boils battery, alignment problems/tire wear (bent axle from factory), house water pump failure, entry step problems, refer fan problems, Jenson radio camera system replaced, overhead bunk problems, cabinet issues and couch is coming loose. Selling Dealer in Texas is no help. They ''jump thru hoops'' when they sell these things but want to put you on a waiting list for any and all repairs. Its a 180 mile roundtrip to drop it off and another 180 to pick it up. Plus a $200.00 deductible everytime you need assistance/repairs. This thing should have come with a large bottle of asprin..Thank goodness for 5 yr. extended warranty. My last bill would have been over $1500. But time is money.

2016 Thor Industries Challenger Rv Review

I bought a 2016 thor in Michigan. We live in Tennessee and on the way home the over head bed fell down on one side and the wipers got all tanked up. We call the General RV were we bought it because they said we are family and they take care of us. We'll they just gave us other dealers to call and said your on your own. We had to spend the night at a rv repair shop (cause it was raining) to get someone to fix the wipers, but as soon as we got on the road again they tangled up again. We had to pull over until the rain passed. We then took it to a dealer in Huntsville Al. They have had it for a month now waiting for Thor to send them a new wiper motor. I will tell every one I know not to buy a thor.

Thanks for this information. I was going to buy a new rv but changed my mind.

If it helps, all the other rv companies do the same thing. They sell stuff slapped together, no quality control, pay cheap wages to people who do not care.

This whole experience has been a rude awakening to American made products. No Pride

I am sorry you are going through this

#1160472

We are on our fourth repair for our 2016 Thor Challenger 37TB windshield wiper issue. Thor has refused the dealers request to replace the motor since it is working.

Yes, they work on the slowest speed but as rain increases and the wiper speed is increased, they both over extend and one wiper jams the other and you are stuck! The wipers have caused paint damage all four times. Honestly, Thor what has to happen.?????

A tragedy on the road??? We have spent hard earned money to own our dream----is it a nightmare?

#1157281

Well it's been over 2 months, we missed two impotent occasions already. We are paying for something we don't have and I would tell everyone I meet not to buy a Thor. I'm embarrassed to tell people I bought one.

#1144241

Sorry for your headaches, but happy to learn about Thor's lack of reliability & quality.

I had hoped Thor would be better.

Really like the Venetian.

Oh well. Back to Tiffin...

2016 Thor Motor Coach Four Winds Rv Review from West Covina, California

Purchased a brand new 2016 Four Winds coach. I realized after purchase and taking it out for first time vacation how Workmanship is poor and materials used from cabinets to paneling and using cheaply materials. I would have thought buying a pricey motorhome coach would have included quality workmanship & material especially made in US...if I would have have known then when making purchase & what I know now I probably I definitely would have reconsidered purchase...
