No more Keystone campers for me!

Thor Industries - No more Keystone campers for me!
I bought a new 2017 Keystone Montana High Country in Oct 2016. I traded a 2005 Montana 5th wheel, which was a good camper, well made and a very comfortable camper. But, my wife, 3 pets and I were going to be living in it for a while, so I decided to buy a bigger one to better accommodate us. Since I had had good luck with the first Montana, I did not even consider looking at other brands. I bought a new one at Camping World. 4-5 weeks later, there was a storm, and I had a big leak in the middle of the night. We had to out out 3 pots to catch water. The floor, a sleeper sofa and the carpet underneath the sofa got soaked. We do not know how long this camper sat on Camping Worlds lot before we bought it, or how long it sat at Keystone, or how many times it may have gotten wet during storms, so we do not know what condition the ceiling or insulation might be in underneath. There was a lot of water that night. The water came out of the AC vent and apparently the light fixture, because the light cover was full of water . This is not the only issue we have had. 2 of the window shades stopped working within 2 weeks of buying the camper, the trim in the bedroom is obviously not made of real wood like the older Montanas. The trim is covered in wood like adhesive backed paper. The paper was not put on properly, not sure if it was cut too short or just not put on good or what, but it is loose, sticking up and what is stuck on, has bubbles all underneath. I'm sure in a year, it will all be off. The refrigerator freezer does not get cold enough. It takes 2 days to freeze a tray of ice and food never freezes hard, the black tank and gray tanks are mislabeled outside. I thought I was draining the black tank first and flushing with the gray tank, but I was actually flushing with the black water tank. Nice. The bunks have no ladder to get up on them. The only way to get up is to climb on the cabinet with the tv on one side, and on top of the recliners on the other side. You would think a ladder cost a thousand bucks the way keystone and camping world act. The living room cabinet has hookups for a washer and dryer, however, there is no way to put a washer/dryer in this cabinet unless you want to permanently remove the cabinet doors, because whoever designed this camper, did not take the slide out trim into consideration. The doors do not open all the way. There is also a kitchen cupboard cabinet door the same way. Camping World acted like there was a possibility for this to be fixed when we bought the camper. As I said, we bought the camper in Oct, had the leak in late November, we went home for the month of December, so, we pulled the camper to Camping world on Dec 6th and they had it until Jan 2nd. They assured us it would be fixed when we got back. The only thing touched on this camper when we got back, they had cleaned debris out of some kind of pan in the duct, nothing else was touched. We asked Keystone and Camping World if they could send someone here to fix it since we are living in it. We are 8 miles from Camping World. The answer was NO. They want us to pull it back in. Keystone informed us they were putting a note in the file stating that we would not comply and that we would be liable for whatever happens. What kind of company does their loyal customers like this. We bought from them in good faith, that they would be there to help us should we have a problem with their product. Such a shame to treat people like that. I stood by Keystone, always recommending them to friends. No more. I'm warning you all, you need to stay away from them. There are a lot of other nice campers out there, and I am sure there are some decent service departments out there somewhere, but, do your homework first. Look up the companies and read the reviews. I sure wish I had, because there are lots of disgruntled people that have bought from Keystone. I will not recommend keystone (Thor) to anyone. I will do my best to steer them in the right direction......far from keystone (Thor)

I have bought a Jayco Eagle 339flqs. And it to has been nothing but a piece of JUNK.

It has had water leaks from every water line in it. The side windows in the slide have all leaked water from rain storms, the leaking water line's mixed with the faulty electrical and started a fire. In the first month of owning this junk pile. The roof has had to be redone, the furnace has ben pulled out about 6 times, the water heater has been replaced.

And now it's going back in to shop to remove 2 of the slides. To reroof one and fix weather strip on the other. And all threw these problems i was kicking myself for not buying a Montana. But after seeing your comments maybe it's a good thing i didn't get the Montana.

At least Jayco jas been willing to make the repairs. But dont get me wrong.

I wouldn't wish a Jayco on my worst enemy. And the worst part of all is there all junk these days.

#1467656

well maybe u should have looked at it first and maybe u would have een some of the flaws

@PissedConsumer1467656

Unfortunately you can’t see everything? Faulty Led lights on Jayco’s for example, water lines that are hand tightened at factory- that leak.

Mine occurred on my first outing. I then checked all my water lines and discovered that the cold water line behind the shower had a Linnie leak. The kitchen sink faucet has to be tightened 2 turns? So you don’t see everything and so much for Jayco boasting about quality!

Do they not have quality control supervision ? Or the fellow who posted a photo of all the wiring all bunched up and not secured properly with plastic holding clips- that rub together and cause a fire. Or the people that had there holding tanks drop out from under there unit onto the pavement while travelling. Only afew of serious problems.

So comments like you should have looked closer before buying??

Worse yet the govt. cares less and no regulations on this matter!

Thor Industries - 2013 Thor Motor Coach Ace Rv Review

Purchased a Thor ACE 4/2013. Of course no longer under warranty but have some serious issues that will cost a lot to fix: (1) Driver/passenged seats not adjustable. Feet hang down. (2) Supports for side mirrors are badly corroded. And, worst of all, all seats are wearing and developing worn spots. All of this is in a less than 4 year old RV. I have already had to replace the lining in my front drapes.

very please with my 2013 challenger gt37. my problem is dealing with McGeorge Rolling Hills RV in Ashland, va.

Dash fans quit working during return from fla. Took RV to McGeorge 18th April...parts ordered (?)...finally went back got MH still waiting for parts. Checked with Ford...part is readily available.

Problem lies with McGeorge.

Salesman and finance manager treated me great...service department/parts department...something else. Don't expect a rapid call after leaving message.

Thor Industries - 2017 Thor Motor Coach Outlaw Rv Review

Update by user Dec 14, 2016

I asked customer service if he had ever googled "Thor Outlaw". He said "no". I said "the first thing that pops up is complaints about the control board for heater." He said "unfortunately the way it's manufactured, water can get in those things and ruin them" really?!?

Thor Products no good

I was going to purchases a 2015 chateau from camping world and before signing, we were told be the General Manager that we lied about our trade-in and they were adding $6000.00 to the price of the Chateau. We laughed and walked out. We went to another Camping World and purchased 2016 Thor Chateau 31W. Well we have had it out on short weekends and at least 3 times a week I check out the coach. When I was camping both time I tried to Flush my black water tank and I heard water running on the ground. I looked and I was flushing alright the undercarriage of the coach. I had a Dish put on the coach and it works great on the front TV but nothing on the bedroom because no cables were set up on the TV. I haven't tried the outside one yet. Now stopped for 2 weeks from going to the coach because of illness. all my batteries. I turn off the switch for the batteries and still no go. I had to purchases a trickle charger to keep the house battery charged. We have not gone on a long trip but were planning on it this summer. All I can say is that any company that sells Thor Products will loose customers.

2016 Four Winds Thor 31' Class C

we excitedly purchased our first new motor home from sky river in Pismo Beach California in Nov 2015, our first year experience was taking trips not for recreation but rather trips to document numerous repair issues that kept cropping up. every trip showed new problems to deal with, our life has revolved around making appointments to take this piece of junk in and time to go pick it up with a couple of issues still not repaired more than a year into this ordeal. forget about help from Thor customer service they could care less about your frustration. there appears to be no quality control at their factory at least not with our coach. i would not recommend to anyone to buy any Thor product.

I see a lot of coaches with the same problems we have a 04 Mandalay that the problem started 3 years after we bought it, it was the print, or the clear coat, its the fiberglass that's checking. I spoke to Mandalay years ago about what they would do about it, and they...

Poor Workmanship/ Poor Customer Service

I am new to the RV world. My husband and I excitedly purchased our first RV July 2016. We purchased a 2016 Freedom Elite. We'd taken two trips with no issues in July & August 2016, but Oct when my husband wanted to go tailgating he encountered water leaking in on him in the drivers seat . Camping World Jacksonville, Fl. stated we will fix the issue sealants for leaks(Work order#1). We thought all was good, end of Oct we taken a weekend trip we discover mold in the overhead and water in the storage area (Work order #2 mold and water in storage). I call Thor and Cynthia the person I spoke with informed me that checking sealants is my responsibility. I was informed to read page# 131 of the owners manual. She wanted to know had I checked the sealants. I explained that I'd only had this RV for 4months and was new to the RV world, I would not think a new product would need checking this soon. She informed me that it was my responsibility and the dealer's Camping World since they've had the product since October 2015. She continued to let me know Thor is not responsible for sealants after six months according to my warranty. Wow!!!. As I stated to her if this product was 2 or 3 years old she would little argument out of me but something I just purchased. I think not! What this indicates is a lack of Quality Assurance measures that should be apart of the inspection process before delivery to a dealer and the dealership should inspect before delivery to a customer. Thor should ensure that their products are well made. I did not even discuss or mention the wires that were not connected preventing the tank signal light from working that my husband just corrected. I am utterly dissatisfied. Camping World has now enter my second work order to Thor and I've just had this product 5 months.

RV Industry is Terrible. Don't buy American Made Products

You hit the nail on the head: "RV Industry" They are ripping people off now that gas prices are low and they are selling tons of these pieces of garbage. Quality control and warranty work goes out the window. They are not interested in quality, only selling as many units at the highest price possible. I know that many companies share the same manufacturing location with unskilled workers. I am sorry you are going through this; however, please realize that comments like yours are preventing people from buying an rv. They are all the same, Forest River, Thor and winnebego. No wonder citizens are no longer buying American made products.

I think I'll look for other brands now

I was excited to watch the YouTube videos praising the new RUVs from Thor. Specifically the Vegas and the Ace. Thankfully I found this site which chronicles the myriad of problems with these units. Some straight from the factory. I don't expect my truck to be at the dealer for months on end, let alone a 100K RV. So thanks to everyone for the reviews. I'll look for another brand to purchase. There are many more to choose from. I was excited about the look of the Thor's and their layouts, especially for 2 people on a cross country trip.
